The dull drag of the pandemic and its handbrake on travel is slowly releasing, and we are starting to take some tentative moves out of home base.

In March we had a short excursion to Victoria, partly to visit our friends, Gary and Gwyn Whelband who had, rather boldly, relocated to country Victoria. We picked a day to start this trip at the exact time the weather gods unleashed a full-blown Eastern Low, with high winds and torrential rain on our drive down the Monaro Highway to Cann River and beyond. We were in Melbourne for a few days, then up to the Murray for some touring around Rutherglen and Yarrawonga.

In May we are heading off for a much longer trip along the coast roads of New South Wales and Queensland, culminating in a 4-wheel drive tour from Cairns to Cape York, then meandering inland back to Canberra in early August.
